Research & Planning: Target Audience Research

Before i start my magazine i need to do some research into my selected audience, i.e. Students. I need to know what content they would like to see in it, as well as seeing what name works for them, colours that they find attractive. A method we've decided to do to get this is my making a focus group in which we'll discuss what initial ideas we've come up with, and what fits best. I've come up with a few names that could be used, all with different designs. I'll upload a few designs of the titles soon.

Preliminary task action plan

Within the next three weeks i will be researching into other student magazines, gathering information and idea to portray in my own work, and how to get the target audience. As well as seeing what conventions makes a student magazine. To achieve that i will have to audience research to see what would attract them to a student magazine. This will be completed by the 8th october.

In the second week of the three i will make a mock up of the front cover as well its contents page, from the findings i have collected from researching into student magazines, then move on to more detail into designing the front cover and the contents page. This is to be completed by the 15th October.

In the final third week, i will be doing the final design of the front cover and contents page to be completed by the 17th October , then followed by a full evaluation to be done by the 22nd October .

Introduction to brief

For my As media coursework i have to create a front page for a student magazine, using DTP and image manipulation programs. On my magazine cover, i have to feature a student or students in a medium close-up shot, with a well placed masthead as well as laid-out text. As well as this i have to also produce a contents page.

For my main task for my coursework, i have to create a front page, contents and double page spread of a new music magazine. All images and text has to be produced by myself, with a minimum of four images.
